The Telecommunication Regulation Authority (TRA) is a telecommunications regulator. This means that we set the rules for firms that provide telecommunications services, check that the firms are following these rules, and make sure that there are consequences if the firms do not follow these rules. We were created by the FSM Telecommunications Act of 2014, which contains laws that give us powers to make and enforce rules.
The TRA is an independent regulator. This means that while we listen carefully to the concerns of consumers, the Government, telecommunications services firms and others, we must make our own decisions based on the objectives set out in our Act.
