The TRA takes its job seriously. The Act sets out specific conduct that is an offence, in Sections 382 and 383 of the Telecommunications Act of 2014.
Penalties are set out in Section 384 of the Telecommunications Act of 2014.
There are significant consequences for telecommunications service providers who do not follow the rules or laws that apply to them. If a firm contravenes the Act it will be subject to a fine not exceeding 5% of the revenue of the firm in the previous financial year, and in the case of a continuing offence, to a further fine not exceeding $100,000 for each day during which the offence continues.
